    Mark do you think the RIT-900 is still worthwhile buying for a 30-45m contingency rope for the bottom of The bag? Or VT-X is still a better option? RIT-900 seems very easy to rappel and haul with. Good compatibility with toothed devices.

    • @mtnsense
      @mtnsense 8 місяців тому

      its fine, but I think the petzl PUR is better. RIT900 really collects a lot of snow, but its also higher friction for rappels. User preference.

    Have you tried the sterling cord v-tx with a tibloc or micro Traxion? Seems like the diameter doesn’t meet the specs?

    • @msmiley7546
      @msmiley7546 9 місяців тому

      I have with the micro traxion for hauling backpacks on a multipitch climb. It was fine for that. Tibloc seems sketchy even with the largest locking carabiner.

    well done. my buddy and i also only used chocks on nutcracker out in yosemite the same year royal robbins passed away. seemed like a proper way to climb one of his routes in his honor. we really gotta give it up to the golden age climbers back then, they were something else.

    Climbed about 3-4 pitches of rock above the steep snow/ice traverse in 1993. Bailed, almost killed by rockfall so many times. Did pseudo bivouac under small overhang until midnight waiting for freeze.

    • @mtnsense

      Standard petzl reverso but I rig it special. Both strands in the same hole

  • @Govanification
    @Govanification 2 роки тому

    @6:09 An important note is that the Edelrid rap line is rated for 2 UIAA falls for the twin rope test, meaning it must be folded in half and climbed in twin rope configuration, NOT rated for any single-strand falls. Also because it has non-elastic aramid fibers in the sheath, if you did take a proper lead fall onto that cord in twin mode I'd probably retire it after that since the elastic and hyperstatic materials would have a fight and something might break when it stretches that much.
